CrimeStoppers loses one of their own.

Richard Sassi, former Chief of the Beacon Police Department and Co-founder of NY State CrimeStoppers, died Tuesday.

The police department is working with Sassi's family on funeral arrangements, Chief Robert Pavone said.

“It's with great shock and sadness that the City of Beacon Police Department and the City of Beacon community as a whole has sustained the loss of Chief Richard Sassi,” Pavone said.

Sassi was 54 and had retired less than a year ago, Pavone said. He died of a sudden medical emergency.
